Functional Design

Our design process does not involve 'paper' architects who've never prepared a meal in one of their 'dream' kitchens or worked in a space or with a tool they've only experienced in a drawing or on a CAD (Computer Aided Design) screen. When we perfect a design, we consult as necessary with masters of each respective trade, craft, skill and profession to infuse their lifetime of hands-on experience and practical knowledge into our functionally-designed projects, ensuring they will work as intended.

We are always professionally and personally involved with each project from start to finish.

One of the more important things learned during apprentice and journey training is a great respect for the classic beauty of proper function. Something that works as it should satisfies on many levels. Form should properly follow function and, while form may influence design, it should not dictate function. Functional design is a synergy of both form and function.

Well-designed workspaces feature fewer steps to reach essential areas, proper-height countertops and work surfaces, ergonomically-correct seating and properly-focused color-balanced lighting. Sufficient, well-placed electrical outlets and intuitive control systems, current-technology data and media access and efficient HVAC systems also contribute greatly to eliminating stress and increasing productivity.

Effective professional websites are well planned and properly coded tools showcasing intuitive navigation of the vivid imagery, compelling writing and understandable graphics that guide your visitors along their many converging pathways to your  desired worthwhile destination. These basics go a long way toward creating an experience that will convert casual browsers into inbound clients as well as creating a solid foundation for Organic Search Engine Optimization (OSEO).

One of the most beautifully-functional objects on the planet is a championship-grade flat-track motorcycle. Every aspect is fully optimized for racing on dirt ovals; no bodywork obstructs adjustment of engine or suspension settings and not one ounce of unnecessary weight impedes its sole purpose of winning races. A well-designed tool will fit both use and user well and function properly, safely and intuitively to accomplish the task or tasks for which it was intended.
